The Crian MacKenzie Trophy honours the Most Valuable Player of the Firsts and commemorates one of the true pioneers of the Forest Hill Baseball Club.

Crian was a founding member of Forest Hill, having come from East Burwood prior to its merger with the Nunawading Baseball Club to form the club we know today. His leadership was instrumental from the very beginning: he served as the inaugural Club Coach—returning for two additional coaching seasons—and claimed the Firsts MVP award in that inaugural year.

Crian later served as Club President from the sixth season, guiding the club for six successful years. His dedication to the club was recognised early, becoming Forest Hill’s first ever Life Member.

Ken O’Malley Trophy – Batting Award

The Ken O’Malley Trophy recognises excellence with the bat and is awarded to the best hitter. Typically the winner is from the Firsts althought the award has been presented to the highest batting average across the entire club in some seasons. While records suggest the trophy was first awarded in 2009, complete winner records are only available from 2016 onward.

Ken O’Malley is one of Forest Hill’s longest-serving and most accomplished members. A long-term player, he has contributed extensively off the field, serving as Secretary in 2014, spending many years on the committee, and holding the role of Vice President.

On the field, Ken served as Club Coach for four seasons during his playing career and enjoyed remarkable individual success. He is a nine-time winner of the Crian MacKenzie Trophy and has claimed the Firsts Batting Award on numerous occasions—well over ten times—making him one of the club’s most dominant performers.

In recognition of his sustained excellence, leadership, and service to the club, the batting award he won so often was fittingly named in his honour.
